Location
This photo was taken under my porch in my backyard. I'm sitting on the ground when I take the photo. The boy in the photo is my 7 year old son.Time
The idea of this photo was born when I saw this beautiful light coming from glass of the door. It was early in the morning around 9. I was paying attention to the light the whole week. 28 May the light was coming beautiful through the doorwindow. I ask my son if he wants to sit at the ground this specific way. And he did.Lighting
The only light is used, is the natural light coming from the door at the back. I wanted the light highlighted him from behind, also I knew this photo would be in Black and White. I love the strong contrast in photo's. You can see it in most of my photo's.Equipment
I use a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and for this photo I used the Sigma 85mm for it's softness in the background.Inspiration
The light was my inspiration for this photo, when I saw the light the idea was born. My son is also an inspiration for me. He has a beautiful, typical expression. He makes my photo's spark.Editing
I did a little post-processing. First in Camera Raw. More contrast and I put a vignette around the photo for the dramatic effect. Black and white conversion I did in photoshop. In my camera bag
I have a little yellow bag. In this bag I have always my Canon EOS 5D Mark II with extra cards en batteries. I have only three lenses 2 sigma's. 85 mm 1.4 en 50 mm Art (I love my sigma's great lenses) and 1 zoomlens canon EF 24-105 mm F4.Feedback
Look at the light which parts are highlighted of your subject. I wanted dept that's why my aperture was 3.5. I knew that photo would be in B&W thats why I used the big contrast in the photo. Noticed the details in the area. Some are great for the photo, others are annoying. My final words, be yourself, you're unique.
