Location
This photo was taken at Montrose harbor in Chicago. It is a small, secluded marina off of Lake Michigan. I often bike along the lake trail to see it in different types of light and in different moments of the day. That afternoon was quite unique.Time
It was a little bit after 2:00 in the afternoon. However, the fog made it look like late evening. I remember staring at the mysterious effect the fog was giving the area. I can't remember if I was biking or walking, but I couldn't stop taking shots because I was so amazed by its beauty.Lighting
I would like to take credit for the light in the image, but I needed no more than what the fog was already offering me, it had a fairy-tale like surrounding.Equipment
I used my Nikon D7100 and had the 24.0-120.0 mm Nikon lens. The visibility was not at its best, and since I didn't have my tripod with me I used the fence that was surrounding the harbor to stabilize my hand.Inspiration
I was heading out to work when I noticed the mysterious mist that was surrounding the buildings outside of my window. I immediately grabbed my camera and decided to take advantage of that beautiful day. Biking along Lake Michigan trail was very handy, since it gave me the opportunity to stop and capture these moments.Editing
I just did some basic post-processing in Photoshop. Corrected the contrast, the tone, the WB and sharped it a bit.In my camera bag
I can't compare the equipment I have on me with the one I dream to have.:) I have barely started to learn photography a month previous to the date the picture was taken, which was actually somewhere around May, this year. So I am still in the process to invest in a good tripod and a cable release and some other good things I have my eyes on. For now, I am trying to learn more with the little I have which is my Nikon D7100 and my 24.0-120.0 mm Nikon lens.Feedback
The best advice I can give is to have your eyes open to the beautiful and unique moments each day has to offer. There is beauty everywhere you go. Just notice it and freeze it in time and space.
