In the Kruger camp that we were based, a big herd of elephants came down to the river to drink in the late afternoon. Some crossed the river to feed off the vegetation and we were within metres of them. A young mother with her very little baby were so close and I managed to get this photo of the baby in the undergrowth trying very hard to copy mother. Just the glimpse of his little pink tongue made me think of how vulnerable he is as was still suckling. Without his mother he would not survive at that age.
