Behind The Lens

Location

This photo of Lennox Castle was taken in Lennoxtown, Scotland during our holiday in May 2016

Time

We had lunch in Lennoxtown and started enquiring from the local people if they knew where Lennox Castle was, as this was where I was born in 1949. After obtaining directions we set off in our car up some small lane ways to a spot where we had to walk through some large brick pier gates and down a long drive it was around 2pm. Coming around the bend in the drive and there in front of us was this huge stately looking building. I walked around until I found the excellent position to take this shot, I stepped back down the hill to get the full feeling of how grand this place once was, making sure to include the weeds and fencing so show its dilapidated state it had fallen into.

Lighting

No artificial lighting or reflecting apparatus was used and I was very fortunate to capture the building the way that I have.

Equipment

I used a Pentax X90, 4.6mm F4. No other equipment was involved

Inspiration

My Family emigrated to Australia in 1955 and I had always wanted to find this castle where I was born in 1949. Lennox Castle was the Maternity Hospital at that time.

Editing

None at all.

In my camera bag

Just my trusty Pentax X90.

Feedback

There is a strong emotional connection to this subject for me as this was the place of my birth. I am of the opinion that the stronger the emotional connection to a subject it will be reflected in the shot taken.
