Location
Seacliffe beach in east Lothian Scotland. Looking towards Tantallon castle.Time
Mid morningLighting
There were Stormy conditions, but the sun was breaking through the clouds so lucky to get some drama in the sky!Equipment
Nikon d3200. Tokina 10 - 18 f4.5 wide angle lens. Tripod used. F8 @ 125th of a second I used a square nd filter to darken the sky.Inspiration
The sun and shadows flying over the castle have it a very gothic feel. I love the drama in itEditing
I used Lightroom for monochrome conversion and altered colour channels to help darken parts of the image. In my camera bag
Nikon d7100 Nikon 50mm 1.8g. Tokina 10 -18mm sigma 70-300mm lenses. 10 stop nd square filter. Manfrotto tripodFeedback
ND filters are a very helpful tool for the landscape photographer, you can maintain nice details and add drama to clouds, so highly recommended! Use a tripod to avoid shake ( when it's windy!) take lots of shots, be patient and experiment!
