This shot was taken in Paris, France during christmas time for a few years ago. The trip to Paris was my first one and the creativity boost that the city injected to me was amazing, Paris i definitely one of the most photogenic and inspiring cities I ever visited.Time
I remember having trouble falling to sleep again after waking up by 3 a.m. this morning. After an hour turning back and forth in bed I decided to get up, pick up my gear and hit the streets of Paris on an early photo walk.Lighting
The thought I had going out that early in the morning was to wait for that peculiar soft light that only the early hours of a day can offer. I also still wanted to preserve some of the hard lights from the city lamps.Equipment
Nikon d7000, Nikon 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED, tripod.Inspiration
Reflections has always inspired me. Mirrors, windows, water or any other reflecting surface opens the opportunity to great geometrically balanced shots and I often catch myself searching for them. Besides, in this case, the water and the amazing reflection I've got inspired by the light, the deep perspective with its' leading lines and most of all I've got inspired by Paris.Editing
I did some basic post-processing in Lightroom correcting the horisont and some light correction. In my camera bag
At that time I use to have a Nikon d7000, a Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 10-24/3,5-4,5 G ED lens, a Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 35/1,8 G lens and a Sirui tripod. This gear was awesome for street photography. Nowadays I have a Nikon d700, Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 35/1,8 G and eventually the Sirui tripod.Feedback
Find a river in a city environment, get up early in the morning to get that awesome soft light and search for symmetry. Try to find the best angle to get strong and long leading lines. Don't take just one shot, try different angles, try to exhaust the alternatives. Be creative and have fun.
