This was taken at Watchung Reservation in Mountainside, NJ.Time
I believe this was sometime in the afternoon. It was a while ago now so I don't really remember.Lighting
Again this was a while ago now. So this is either natural light or on camera flash.Equipment
This was shot on my first camera, a Canon T3i with the kit lens.Inspiration
I wasn't inspired. This was from a group shoot. I only had my camera for about two years, and I mostly just shot nature as a hobby. I found this group on Meetup, it seemed interesting, so I went. I was still learning about exposure at this time. So the shot was totally random. There were a few other models, and I was with a group of four other photographers with this model all at different angles. I was going to move on to another model while she was in this pose. From where I was standing I thought it looked interesting. I composed my shot, took a few, and moved on to the next one.Editing
Now that adept with Lightroom and Photoshop, I would like to go back to this image. I only used Lightroom for my post-processing. Again, I was still pretty new to everything, and I was still figuring Lightroom out. But I mainly played with the shadows and black levels. Also the vibrance and saturation to make the greenery pop.In my camera bag
It's changed a lot since 2016. Now it's a Sony A7III with a Sigma 50mm Art EF mount with the MC3 adapter.Feedback
Obviously this shot wasn't planned, but my advice would be to plan out your shoot. Your model also helps out a lot as well. The model here is very adept at posing and knows how she looks on camera. Which helps for someone who is inexperienced, like I was at the time. But for a more seasoned photographer it also helps, because it makes it easier to communicate the look you want with the model, and for them to then do their thing.
