Location
This shot was taken at a state park in Florida where ATV’s frequent.Time
This photo was taken mid-day under the hot Floridian sun.Lighting
Although artificial lighting can create great images, using natural light as the primary is always my favorite way to go. It gives it a more “real” feeling and is authentic. This photo was shot with the natural light I had.Equipment
For this shot, I used a Nikon D700 with a telephoto lens. No tripod or flash as I was running around to catch the shots.Inspiration
I knew the ATV’s we’re heading my way and that a mud puddle was there so I composed the shot prior and raised my shutter speed and started firing and got the shot I wanted.Editing
Post-processing is always a must as I shoot primary in RAW format or with Nikon; NEF. Other than that I did some minor touch ups in camera raw.In my camera bag
I usually have a 35mm prime, a white balance card, a telephoto lens, and of course a Nikon body.Feedback
To catch water particles or in this case mud, the first thing that comes to mind is raising the shutter speed to a high enough number where it can stop motion. But when you do that, you need to adjust the other settings to make up for the change you just made. In that case, you would need to raise your ISO and most likely lower your f stop.
