Many of these trees live for 5000 years, and even after dying, can remain for 5000 more years, remaining. In other words, it's quite possible that some trees have been standing for as long as 10000 years, long long before Lucille Ball roamed the earth. :D
I don't actually know if this tree has a name. I just like the name.
This photo has been selected to appear in an upcoming National Geographic Books publication in September entitled "National Geographic's Greatest Landscapes". I am especially honored because it features a long exposure night photo with "light painting", a somewhat unusual photo in which a photo is taken at night, with the subject matter illuminated by a hand-held flashlight while the shutter of the camera is open. In other words, it's not a post-processing creation of any sort, but one in which everything is done during the exposure.
