This image was captured during the fall Sandhill Crane migration through the Woodbridge Ecological Reserve in California. We were out there before dawn to the birds awaken and interact before they took off for the day to find fields to forage. I had to set the ISO to 1600 to get anything. Aperture was f-13. I tried it with shutter speed at 1-320 (this one) and a second one at 1-1600. Both capture that primordial feeling I had when I was there - the feeling that the sun has been rising over these wetlands for millions of years and wildlife awakens to live another day. Note - a variety of migratory ducks are shown in this image as the cranes were not yet accessible.
