Location
This was just took in my living room during a play time with ozzy my 5 year old shihtzu.Time
This was taken after his morning nap on a rainy indoor day.Lighting
I had the light coming in through the patio doors on to Ozzy, which then helped to create the shadows behind him.Equipment
I used my Canon 400d camera and I was just having a little play around with my kit lens 18-55mm f4.6, just used natural lightng for the shot.Inspiration
It was just a rainy day and Ozzy does not like the rain so we were just playing fetch with him with his favourite toy and while he likes you throwing his toy for him to chase he also doesn't like giving it back so he just gives you the look while putting his chin on the toy to say it's his toy and you ain't getting it then starts to wag his tail when you try, so u just laid on the floor with him pretending to get his toy and got this capture of him. My passion is animals as they always have a story and if you get the right shot then the picture will tell you the story.Editing
When I took this I was just using the photo editor that you get with your laptop so the only editing on this is to darken the blacks to help get the shadow more defined, I now own lightroom and was going to re-edit this image however I was happy with the way it had turned out without a lot of editing. In my camera bag
I have updated my gear since taking this picture of Ozzy, so now in my bag is my Canon 7d, and my favourite lens is my tamron 18-270mm f3.5, it is a perfect lens for the types of photos I take as I mainly take photos of animals but this lens gives you the option of different lengths, I also have a canon f2.8 18-55mm lens in my bag, I haven't had much of a play with it yet but from the shots I have tried it's fantastic. I also always have spare memory cards too as I get trigger happy when it comes to animals.Feedback
To get a photo like this I would always say to get down to their level or as low down to the level as possible and just get them to act normal I always find playing with their favourite toys or having treats are great to get them to focus on you, if photographing a pet that doesn't know you then put your camera down and get to know the pet and have a bit of fun with it first so they get to trust you and act natural around you.
