Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo from the famous Ski town of Zermatt, Situated high up in the Swiss Alps and underneath the Matterhorn (see photo or toblerone packaging)

Time

The photo was taken just after midday. Roughly around 2pm. My girlfriend and I got to Zermatt much later than we had hoped due to train cancelations - A rare thing in Switzerland.

Lighting

Not so much about the lighting but the environment itself. I count myself very lucky to have managed this shot. Most of the time we spent in Zermatt the Matterhorn was covered in clouds. This is the problem with nature photography. So when a small break in the clouds came, I quickly managed to get this shot. I was just lucky to be in the right place at the right time

Equipment

I was using a Cannon 20D and a Zoom lens with a UV filter.

Inspiration

My girlfriend and the mountain itself. This was my first trip to Switzerland, but my girlfriend had been there once before. She loves the Mattethorn and desperately wanted me to see it. So this is what inspired the Trip up to Zermatt. When I saw the Matterhorn for the first time, I must say, I completely understood why she loved it so much. It really is a beautiful mountain.

Editing

I did no post editing.

In my camera bag

On this trip we had a tripod but that's about it. I am very much an amateur. In addition, not only am I an amateur, I am also a student - and photography equipment is expressive.

Feedback

Never forget that luck is your friend. Especially for an amateur like myself. Other than that, make sure your lens cap is off! That is about all I know regarding Cameras :)
