Location
I recently did a road trip down the western U.S. coast from Seattle down to San Diego. This photo was taken about halfway through the trip on a rainy night in San Francisco, CA.Time
This shot was taken at around 9pm.Lighting
The SF light pollution mixed with the smooth fog actually created some great lighting for this capture.Equipment
My gear: Canon EOS 6D Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Tripod: Manfrotto 055Inspiration
I have wanted a photo of the Golden Gate Bridge (like anyone would) for years. I knew that no matter what the weather I was going to attempt to capture a keeper from this location. The weather conditions were rough but I'm happy to have found a gap in the fog and rain to get a clean shot.Editing
I edited this photo using Adobe Lightroom CC only. I corrected the warmth of the photo a little bit, decreases some of the haze, and tried to make that bridge pop a little bit by increasing a little clarity using an adjustment brush. In my camera bag
I carry one Canon full-frame camera, my wide angle and my Canon 70-200mm lens as well. I normally have my Lee landscape filter set on me anytime I'm shooting during the day. If I'm driving, I bring my sturdy Manfrotto 055 tripod or my Manfrotto BeFree travel tripod. That's my essential gear.Feedback
My one piece of advice. DO NOT let the weather keep you from attempting a shot you want, no matter where it is (obviously keeping your safety in mind first). Some of my favorite photos were taken when the weather apps predicted the worst. Doesn't hurt to try!
