Behind The Lens

Location

I went to visit friends and family in Bulgaria, and spent some lovely days at my villa where we have a little garden to maintain during the hot summer days.

Time

After a great morning walk in the forest where the rain caught my relatives and I, I came back home just to find this rose enjoying the warm summer rain.

Lighting

From what I remember it was an overcast day where the sun was trying to shine through well after lunch time. This helped me use the lack of direct sun light for the shot.

Equipment

I was so surprised to get this crisp image with enough aperture blur from my old phone, Samsung Galaxy S Advance equipped with 5MP camera.

Inspiration

The rain, the flowers, the summer mood, the environment. It was only natural. Always wanted to get a close up of some rain drops. They make great light fraction.

Editing

I had to correct the warmth and brightness of the image, because as you know it's difficult to get manual settings on phone cameras.

In my camera bag

Currently I've stocked up with Nikon D5200 and its kit lens 18-55mm, couple of close up lenses, polarizer, intervalometer, some colour changed lenses, and gradients.

Feedback

Just experiment a lot and do what you feel is right. Listening to people who teach you technique is not everything. Learn it, but make your own rules to art!
