Location
This photo was taken in Crouse, NC in a field. We need a spot that they appear to be reaching above the tree line.Time
This photo was taken near dusk. We went ahead and got the children ready for bed with their pajamas on and went out to play by trying to touch the starsLighting
I wanted it to have the appearance of a night sky without it getting too dark out for me to capture the image.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon T3i with a 50mm lens.Inspiration
I believe my grandchildren hang the moon and the stars. I wanted something to represent just how special they are to me.Editing
There was post processing on this image. I adjusted the lighting in Lightroom and added a sharpening preset. Next it was pulled into Photoshop to add the moon at just the right height to give the appearance they were touching itIn my camera bag
Currently I always have my Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens, Canon 50mm f1.8 lens, Canon 100mm f2.8 lens and flash of some sort.Feedback
When working with young children, I always like to make it fun for them. Tell them to reach up and see if they can touch the stars or hang from the moon. You will be surprised at what fun they will have.
