Behind The Lens
Location
It was during a festival near Paris : "Festival Chorus 92". It takes place in La Defense, the business center, one of the most famous in Europe. During the festival, this night was one of the biggest, one of the top billing. This photo is one of the rarest for Orelsan's gig. We were only 2 photographers allowed to shoot : me and the festival's official photographer.Time
I really don't remember the time of the shooting.I remember it was probably during the beginning of the concert (during the traditional 3 first song).Lighting
Light during a concert is not something you can control. You're here, you have to live the moment and shoot when you think you will have the best image. At the moment, the light was in the back of the stage : the artist just asked to see the fans. It's why the public is the most important thing, in my own opinion, the most important subject in this image.Equipment
Canon 1Dx + 28-300EF L. For this big concert, with a lot of light, I always use this lens. No flash, etc...Inspiration
When you shoot a concert in the middle of the fans, jumping, screaming, you're inspired by all the excitation and the music. To be a good concert photographer, you have to feel the music and to be part of the public.Editing
I almost never post-process my images. I import them in Lightroom and make some adjustment. I'm not a photoshop fan. Not because I don't like the people that edit their photos but because it's not the way I make photos. In my camera bag
My Canon 1Dx is always accompanied by my 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM (long name) and my 24-70 f/2.8L USM. This is my basic for most of the concerts. But I also take a 50mm 1.4 and my 85mmf/1.2 if I have some occasion to shoot portraits of the artists.Feedback
Feel the music, enjoy the concert, this is one of the most important advice. And please, don't do like most of the photographer : don't look your screen every time you press the button... And move, don't stay close to the stage, try to find some original angles.
