Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo at my home studio in Wisconsin prior to relocating to Colorado.Time
This photo shoot was in the late morning/early afternoon.Lighting
The series that this picture is from was shot using a combination of natural lighting from the window, diffused through a sheer curtain, and continuous lighting from three light stands.Equipment
I used my trusty old Nikon D3100 for this project with a combination of natual and continuous lighting.Inspiration
My fiancee Sarah and I work together often on photography. She is the source of much of my inspiration. We came up with the idea of doing purely black and white boudoir series. I wanted to eliminate the colors that tend to come with boudoir shoots to put much more focus on the model. By eliminating these "distractions" it brings out the soul of my subject.Editing
I wanted to keep these photos as simple as I could. Not much post-processing was done beyond adjusting coloring (prior to the black and white layering) as well as highlights/shadows with a filter here and there. In my camera bag
I always like to carry a spare body, a few extra lenses and filters, along with an extra battery.Feedback
The most challenging part of these type of shoots can be finding a model that works great. I had put out a search on facebook for people and was blessed with finding Jessie (pictured here). She did a fantastic job and was open to suggestions for wardrobe, poses, makeup and hair. Having people on hand to assist with some of these tasks is key too.
