I had been at this location all morning. I was able to watch a couple of bald eagles nesting in the seastack for a while and even a couple of deers frolicking in the surf. As I walked back to the car, I turned around for one more look at the scene, and saw this. I knew this would be much better in black and white.

Very nice capture of Salt Creek. Nice to see a composition that does not feature the island as the main subject.

Location
Beach just west of Port Angeles Washington. All morning I had been shooting the scene, watching a pair of Bald Eagles that had a nest in the seastack behind the cliff on the right. I was walking back to the car to leave. I always try to remember to turn around and take on last look at a scene before I leave. I turned around and this is what I saw.......I never considered this photo for anything other than B&W. In my mind I saw it that way and that is the way I processed it. The water is not a river or stream, but the tide lowering.Time
This was taken about 8:00 am. I had been shooting the scene since about 5:45 am.Lighting
Nothing spectacular about the lighting. Day was fairly clear, with a few scattered clouds.Equipment
Pentax k5, on a tripod. To be honest I don't remember which lens. I'll have to look at the metadata.Inspiration
The whole area inspired me to photograph it in its entirety. This shot is one of 150 I shot that morning. I took many photos of the bald eagles, the sea stack with waves crashing, a family of deer came down and played in the surf for about 20 minutes. They never paid me a second thought.Editing
Processed in light room, changed to monochromatic and then processed thru silver efex.In my camera bag
bag has changed since this photo.......now I carry a pentax k1, 31 mm special edition lens, and a new tripod. The tripod I used to take this photo was broken when I was on my way back from the Subway in Zion national park.Feedback
Always look behind you before you leave. Some of my best shots have been because I waited another 5 minutes. Shoot the entire scene, not just one angle or subject matter. Be creative.
