Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my the Sunflower Garden in Peoria Arizona

Time

I took this photo in the early morning hours right after the rainstorm and the sky had cleared.

Lighting

The lighting was all natural

Equipment

I used a Nikon Coolpix L840 to capture this photo. No additional lenses were used or a tripod.

Inspiration

Anyone that knows me understands the depth of meaning behind my sunflower photographs. I planted sunflowers along with my son while he was growing. He use to love to play beneath their green canopy, as they were very tall and he (at the time) was quite small. We hadn't planted them in many years, but then in the spring of 2013, I decided it was time for another go with them. He passed away not too long after those seeds were planted, on May 4th 2013..we have planted them ever since, in his honor. I continue to photograph them from the time they first sprout and the seed is still clinging to the first opening leaves, to the time each petal has fallen to the ground and the center is bulging with seeds. Growing sunflowers continues to keep me connected to my beautiful boy Austen and the memories we once made together~

Editing

No. I do not own any photo editing software. My photos are taken using the natural outdoor lighting

In my camera bag

I have my camera, my lens cleaner and cleaning cloth and at least an extra 4 batteries.

Feedback

To capture a beautiful sunflower image use natural outdoor lighting. Early morning or late afternoon shots are best. Get close to the subject (even if you have a large zoom lens) so that you can capture each beautiful detail. Happy Capturing :)
