Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken at a state park in Ithaca, New York.

Time

This was taken midday. We were hiking in park and came across this at the hike. I figured I would break out my Lee Bigstopper and see what kind of shot I could get. Needless to say, I was very happy with the results. I really enjoy the softness and colors that resulted into this final image.

Lighting

The light was in and out at this point and at the time of this capture, it was just hitting in the yellow leaves above.

Equipment

Canon 5D MKIII 24-105mm F/4 L Gitzo Tripod and Ballhead Lee Big Stopper Filter Canon Cable release/timer

Inspiration

We were really just hiking around and having a great day when we came across this.

Editing

Processed through Lightroom

In my camera bag

I usually have a tripod of some sort, GoPro 5 Black for fun shots and some video, Lee Filter Set, Canon 5D MKIII, 24-105 F/4 L, 40mm f/1.8, Canon Cable release, Head Level, Silk Cloths, Batteries, flashlight and a Multi-tool. I usually have some snacks as well like Nature Valley or Trader Joes bars.

Feedback

Practice, Practice, Practice! There is no risk in trying something so get out there, look for subjects and experiment.
