Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Juanita Bay Park in Kirkland, Washington. Great park full of places to take pictures!

Time

This was taken right after sunset. Winter season. I remember that I wanted to use my brand new neutral density filter. And that day the sunset was very special!

Lighting

I'm an amateur in al the extension to the word. I stand at that specific place probably 30 minutes before sunset. Trying to use the new ND. I took too many pictures but still there was something not right with the light. The water looked exactly like I wanted it but the sky... After 30 minutes in a 30f degree weather I was I was staring to get cold and I was about to give up for the day wen the sun went away and the orange colored started to show in the horizon. That's when I gave it another try and took this picture.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D7100, 18-105mm lens with a Tripod and a ND filter 3.0x

Inspiration

I was trying to use my new ND filter in a place with water. Winter in Seattle its cloudy and dark, so I was lucky to get the sunset that day!

Editing

I just ajusted the levels and brightness in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

I have my 50mm 2.8 lens with me, tripod, shutter release trigger. UV filter.

Feedback

Be patience, it takes time to get use to the ND filter if you are new to it.
