This photo was taken in one of the underrated gardens in Mt Dandenong, Victoria, Australia. I went for a photowalk with my boyfriend and discovered that hydrangea was blooming everywhere. There were many kinds of pretty flowers but this plant caught my eyes because of the beautiful colour that I love! The lilac, lilac-blue tone was really pretty (especially when I had never seen hydrangea before).Time
It was during the day in summer (about 2.30pm? I couldn't really remember). It's in January! Super hot summer in Melbourne.Lighting
It was my first time seeing hydrangea so I was pretty excited. I started going all directions to view the flowers from different points of view, instead of the common way to view them as a bouquet. Since it was a hot summer day, the nature lighting was wonderful. This photo was taken from down (or bottom side) of the flowers to the trees and lights behind, adding the light bokehs at the back bringing different feeling than the ordinary hydrangea photos.Equipment
This was shot with Canon 700D, with a 50mm f/1.8 lens (which is new!). No other equipment.Inspiration
This photo was taken out of curiosity on how does hydrangea look like from different points of view, and I got this! If I have to mention something, sometimes I prefer to explore undiscovered or underrated things, or even to look at things differently.Editing
For this photo, firstly I used the Digital Photo Professional program from Canon (it came with the camera so I always use it before going into another program). Then Photoshop was used to adjust the brightness, contrast, colour tones for certain specific spots. I am still not good in using Photoshop to give it a nicer colour tones, I also used VSCO to bring out different feels for the photo. In my camera bag
My camera, Canon 700D. I used to have only the normal kit lens (EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6). I have a 75-255mm lens but I don't usually bring it along, unless I plan to shoot birds, etc. Recently I have bought a new 50mm f/1.8 which is my new favourite and I would bring it everywhere!Feedback
From my point of view, sometimes things that are not discovered or not looked into differently might surprise you. Try looking at things differently, go all over the object if it's needed, and capture the nature lightings. Sometimes it's not about searching for the best; beautiful things do come to you unexpectedly.
