Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my home, during an ongoing puja (ritual). This was one of the first photos that I clicked when I started photography. In Hindu culture, this pyre is used for offerings to the god. This was taken during one of those.

Time

This was taken around mid-day, when the ritual was taking place. Ghee is usually used for this kind of ritual and so the flame made some interesting patterns that I noticed.

Lighting

As this was taken in the middle of a sunny day, so the surrounding light was pretty good. As for the main subject, the flame itself draws attention to the image.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D5100 with a 70-300mm Nikon lens.

Inspiration

I was sitting by the pyre when the flames caught my attention. I saw that the flames with the smoke made it quite mysterious, so I waited for the moment when ghee was poured into it, which made it light like this.

Editing

I didn't Post-process it that much, except some basic adjustments in Adobe Lightroom CC.

In my camera bag

I have a basic kit in my bag. My camera with a go-to lens and an extra lens, with my charger, cleaning kit.

Feedback

This kind of photos are some of the most easiest or basic ways you can click if you're starting photography. Just observe and click at the right moment.
