This photo was taken just outside Newark on Trent in Nottinghamshire, UK. The field of poppies stretched for quite a distance and what made this more special was the fact that it was taken on the anniversary of the start of the First World War. The subject is my oldest daughter Darcey who was four at the time. I also like the contrast of the flower in her hat and the blue in her dress which matches the sky and the angle of her body, I think it makes the image more thoughtful.Time

Yes there is some very light post processing using Photoshop CC - this was taken as a jpeg - before I really started to use RAW to any standard so there was no alteration to highlights, shadows etc just a small amount of lightening and matteing.In my camera bag
These days I have a mixture as I take stills and make video professionally. I have a Canon 5D mark iii as my primary and a 70D as my second camera. I generally use a 24-105 L series as my primary lens but have a 70-200mm F4 in the bag along with my 50mm and 85mm primes and a couple of flash guns. Spare batteries and a roll of electrical tape because you never know! I often have a GoPro Hero 4 Black in there as well for timelapse.Feedback
I think the only advice I can give is to look out for spots of natural beauty which might not be easy to find and be prepared to hunt for that perfect spot. I love to use natural light in my images whether it be portraits, weddings or landscapes as I like the tones, however artificial light can come in handy! I think what makes this work is the simplicity - there's nothing fancy going on here, no really complex photographic techniques, it's just an image I love and one that we will cherish forever. That's all anyone really wants from their photos to be reminded of a time and place and hopefully to think back fondly on that moment.
