This Photo was shot in Houston Zoo. I am an self learned amateur photographer interested in Nature and Wildlife especially birds.Time
This Photo was shot on a gloomy day at around 11 am in the morning.Lighting
A gloomy day and lights where just perfect to be shot with lower ISO.Equipment
This photo is a Handheld shot with Canon 70D and Canon 100 - 400 mm F 4.5 - 5.6 IS II lens.Inspiration
I like Bird photography in particular and my love towards Bird Photography started by taking pics of my pet cockatiel Tweety. It was my wish to take Pictures of birds which are not commonly seen around. This Bird in particular was shot by someone and found wounded. Houston Zoo had done a great job in taking care of this Bird.Editing
Not much as the photograph by itself was very good. I had used Lightroom 6 to tweak few settings like brightness, saturation and white levels. In my camera bag
I usually carry my Canon 70D and Canon 24-104mm F4, Canon 100 - 400 mm F 4.5 - 5.6 IS II lens and Canon 50 mm F1.8 lenses. And Yougnou IV flash with 2 radio triggers, soft box and a monopod. And I replace the 100-400 mm with Tokina 11-16 mm F2.8mm and a ND filter if I am out to take Nature, Architecture or Night photography.Feedback
Zoos are a great place to take photos of Animals. Many Wildlife photographers visit zoo periodically to get a good shot of the animal in the exhibit. The more you visit, more are the chances to get a good shot. Take Membership in Zoo, so that you get opportunity to visit zoo as many times as you want to and some places they allow you to enter early, providing an opportunity to avoid crowd. Also, Animals are very active in the morning and evening. Good luck for your journey as a Photographer!
