This is an image from what is becoming an annual event, "The 12 Hours of Penitence" mountain bike race took place in Penitente Canyon, Colo., last fall. The second annual race is scheduled for Oct. 8, 2016, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The canyon is located on BLM lands in the San Luis Valley and is more famous (so far) for its world class rock climbing. The well groomed race course covers more than 21 mostly single track miles in total through some of the most breathtaking scenery Colorado has to offer..
