We took this photo in the Mabalingwe Nature Reserve in South Africa during a self-driven game drive and as we crossed one of the dam walls, this kudu just came strolling across the road, stopped and and look at as for a while.Time
This was taken one afternoon while we were on the game drive. We love driving ourselves and finding the animals after their midday nap time.Lighting
I only used natural lightingEquipment
When photographing wild animals I always use my 300mm lense on my Nikon camera and it was handheld.Inspiration
Kudus are quite shy antelope but this one seemed to be very curious about us being there. I couldn't resist taking the picture as it was 'checking us out' as much as we were checking it. Was quite a special moment.Editing
No post-processing done.In my camera bag
I always carry my whole bag with all my lenses, extra batteries and cleaning aids to ensure I am ready for any photo opportunity.Feedback
Just be patient. They are wild animals and will not be posing to you and you have little time to take a shot before they move. So take lots of photos.....that one special angle or moment will be there for you, but be ready!
