Location
This was taken inside Denali National Park April 17 2016 at mile 18 we had pulled over to take photo of state bird in tree top ....the park was open to mile 30...the park was still removing snow from roads ..locals can travel back into park to mile 30 ...we were in search of bears that might be awaking from their winter sleep or any animal for that matter and always on look out for Lady Denali if she appeared....Time
The time stamp on photo says it was around 11:45 amLighting
The sky was beautiful with spring blue and puffy white clouds one minute and overcast blue and gray the next...the sun came out full on noon brightness and the lady Denali appeared from behind her cloudy dressEquipment
I was shooting with my Nikon D3200 with my favorite lens 18/300 mm... no tripod ...we had driven to the park in search of animals and was taking most photos through the window...Inspiration
when ever Lady Denali appears one is inspired not only to take her photo but also to capture her beauty as she is disappearing ...one only has to view her beauty once to always be ready to capture her again....Editing
I took the amazing color photo into Picasa 3 added one click of contrast ..one click to sharpen it ...click black and white...needed one click of shadow ..In my camera bag
I use to carry a bag but it became to heavy with things I did not need .. so now in my pocket is extra disks and small spray bottle filled with water and oil for flower shots and a extra battery fully charged...works for meFeedback
today is longest day of the year here in Alaska ....one can expect every type of weather across this vast state....many will travel here today to capture the midnight sun...for next two days people will try ....Lady Denali has a mind of her own and she creates her own weather...I have lived here since March of 1979.....I was here a full two years before I saw her....she is quick to appear and even quicker to disappear.one of the best tips I was ever given was to shoot like you are the minute hand on a clock...envision a photo at every second as you turn yourself around ...never just jump out of your car and shoot straight on...take two shots and turn your self ...I have even taught myself to take photos from moving auto...why you ask?....hubby does not like the stop and go of a photo trip ...and I hate the stop and go of myself driving and trying to capture all of the trip....speed and knowing your camera is everything ..I have learned to use auto focus when shooting from moving auto ...another self taught trick is take a shot of sky when light changes and use everything your camera tell you when you look at that shot....I started with a Sears and Roebuck 35 mm film camera.... no info on back of camera then ....today's cameras tell you everything and some camera will not allow the camera to shoot if something is not right ....know your camera...
