Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at the beach by the cabin we go to in the summer.

Time

The photo was taken in the evening after supper. We went for a walk to the beach and my boys were playing in the water.

Lighting

I loved how the sun was starting to go down and created a nice silhouette of my youngest son who was sitting and playing in the water.

Equipment

This photo was shot using my iPhone 5, which I had handy with me. I got down low and made sure my flash was off. I sat down and crouched low to get this angle as I wanted to get this perspective.

Inspiration

I love capturing candid moments of my kids and this is a perfect example. I also love the water and taking nature photos, so this was a great way to merge the two.

Editing

Actually, no, I didn't do any post-processing of this photo. I loved how it came out, especially considering I was only using my phone camera.

In my camera bag

Usually in my photo bag I carry my Sony alpha200, with a 50mm f/1.8 lens. I also carry the kit lens (18-70mm) but I don't use it often.

Feedback

Always be ready to take the shot, and don't be afraid to get down low especially when photographing kids. For this particular shot I made sure that the sun was behind my subject and the photo was not overexposed to get that nice silhouette feel.
