This was a practice lighting session with off camera flash. In my inexperience I did not know how to exclude ambient light so I waited until evening.Lighting
My preference is for dark and moody rather than ethereal and light so the exposure was kept low. As a result of waiting until evening and murky light I did notice the cat until after the shot was taken. Serendipity.Equipment
I used off-camera flash through an umbrella, camera was on a tripod.Inspiration
This was a relatively early attempt to shoot still life.Editing
Post processing was straightforward in Lightroom, using levels etc and no sharpening. In my camera bag
This image was created with my Fuji XE2 and the 18-55 mm lens. This camera is now my easily accessible street photography camera, I now use a Fuji XT2 with the same lens and also a 35mm 1.4 and a 16mm 1.2. In addition for travel and all round shooting I have an 18-135mm.Feedback
First off all you need a curious cat! Then setup in the hopes you will not be bothered, usually in vain.
