The sun was setting and I loved the little bit of light left creeping through the top of the trees.Equipment
Nikon D4S, 200mm lens... thats it.Inspiration
This photograph was taken to capture the love between Mom and child. We can't count how many times in one day a mother will kiss her young child. I wanted to take a moment and capture that. I wanted Mom to have a real photograph that she would always cherish.Editing
Yes, I perfected skin tones and erased any green shadows on the skin. I also did some minor adjustments in photoshop to "liquify" the skirts to perfect the dress angles. The photo was dark so I added some light above Mom and daughter. In my camera bag
Usually just my Nikon D4S and 200mm. If my assistant joins me on a shoot, she will have my reflector to avoid shadows.Feedback
Try to photograph subjects and capture their connection. Let them play, let them talk, let them kiss.... just always be shooting! Some of the best photographs I get, are when families interact. Take a moment to let them "be them" and meanwhile never stop shooting. Try to master your angles. If the photo doesn't look right, move your subjects around or move yourself and your shooting angle. In this shot, the toddler was too small for Mom to lean down and kiss so I had her stand on a crate.
