These young Wood Ducklings were very curious about this slime mold, Red Raspberry I believe (Tubifera ferruginosa). As you can see from its bill, the duck on the right has already tried a little nibble. I haven't found anything about the edibility of this fungus so hopefully it is not poisonous.

As soon as I was settled in my blind this morning I looked over and noticed this slime mold that had grown since the last time I was at the pond. I kept thinking that I wished I could get over to take a photo. I'll take this!
