Location
This photo was taken in my backyard.... it's our neighbourhood park where my family likes to take walks and go for bike rides. I took this during one of our walks.Time
This was getting close to sunset and you can see the golden glow across the trees in the background. It's our favourite time of day to be in the park.Lighting
The key to this image was the background lighting. The path helps lead you to the background as the trees and clouds glow with the rays of the setting sun. The hour before and after sunset is my favourite time to photography, the lighting can be naturally soft.Equipment
This image was taken using a full frame dslr (Canon 5D ii) with a standard 35mm lens.Inspiration
The calm clouds and glowing trees caught my attention and so it was a matter of finding the appropriate foreground that would further balance the image. The pine trees to the right anchor the image and the path acts as a leading line into the scene.Editing
This image was post-processed using photoshop to bring out the shadows and highlight the lighting on the trees and on the path. I like adding contrast to specific areas to bring out texture which further accentuates the soft clouds and sky.In my camera bag
I like to keep my Canon 7D ii crop body and a telephoto lens with me for wildlife and bird photography. The full frame camera is my go-to dslr for landscape images.Feedback
I find that keeping my camera with me every time I go for a walk in my neighbourhood is essential in capturing unexpected images. The other thing is timing, if the clouds are right then stick to sunset walks and try to go back to the same location under different lighting. You'd be surprised how much the mood changes, and how some boring places all of a sudden look stunning in the right lighting.
