Location
This photo was taken in Parvin State Park in Southern New Jersey.Time
In the morning about 10 am.Lighting
I just loved the way the light was just peaking over the trees across from it and the early morning sun really brought out the vibrance of these newly bloomed magnolia flowers.Equipment
This was shot on my Nikon D200 with a 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
I love nature but I hadn't previously shot anything attempting to capture the beauty of nature. The way the morning light caused those flowers to shine really caught my eye and I knew I had to snap a shot.Editing
I didn't do too much editing. I brought the brightness up just a bit and bumped the saturation up one or two digits. I was just trying to recreate what my eyes saw.In my camera bag
Most days I carry one Dslr, either my Nikon D200 or D3200, and a film slr, my Nikon Fg-20, and I typically have 3 or 4 lenses. For my digital camera I carry a 18-55mm, a 35mm, and a 55-200mm, and for my film camera I just carry a 50mm lens. Outside of that I usually carry an external flash that I rarely use, my photography professor taught us flash is the devil most of the time, a tripod, some cleanin supplies, a remote shutter release, and a notebook to write about the set up and locations of some of my shots.Feedback
Get close to your subject, like really close, find what makes it special. Check the lighting throughout the day, maybe there's a time of day that works better for that subject. And don't be afraid to try something new or different.
