Location
This photo was captured in the forests of North West Tasmania, while watching the Targa Tasmania tarmac rally.Time
The photo was captured in the late morning.Lighting
A very overcast day made for perfect natural lighting, allowing for slower shutter speeds to capture the rally cars with panning shots. The shadows of the forest ahead helped to highlight the cars on the road before they disappeared into darkness.Equipment
This handheld panning shot was captured using a Nikon D5500 with a Tamron 70-300 lens.Inspiration
I had been shooting away from the forest, but decided to turn around after seeing the bright orange Porsche coming and thinking that the colour would be more vivid with the darker backdrop of the forest.Editing
Basic exposure and white balance correction in Lightroom. In my camera bag

Practice, practice, practice! Get to know your camera and lenses, and how they perform in different situations. For panning, start with a faster shutter, then adjust it slower until you find that sweet spot.
