We where in our home. The window faces our back yard .Time
We had just finished lunch and she had quickly gotten up from the table. I remember thinking where is she going. Its too cold to be outside. I started to look for her and realized she was sitting at the window. Staring contently out I asked what are ya thinking about she said something. I said you sure look like your thinking hard. She said really hard. With a smile on her face she said I am loved. That was all I got out of her.Lighting
Honestly the only thing going through my mind at the time was how beautiful the outside light was hitting her and how nice the shadows fell when I shot this. It was all about her angel and where she sat in comparisson to the where the sun was coming from.Equipment
This was shot with my Canon 6D and my 50mm 1.8 no other equipment was used.Inspiration
I have four kids. And each one so very different from the other. I love to capture their personalities and how they react to life. This daughter in particular can be very serious and very funny all at the same time. So this was a moment that I wanted to get cause she rarely separates the two.Editing
I did do some exposure adjustments to brighten up her face a bit and added a radial filter to play on the shadows a bit more. Other than that nothing else was needed to really speak to me the emotion I was wanting to convey. In my camera bag
My always is a Canon 6 D and my back up body is a 60 D carry 4 batteries a Canon 50 mm 1.8 a Tameron 70-200 2.8 us filters for my 50 mm 4 32g sd cards Canon 430 EX2 speed lite and 12 batteries for that.Feedback
Be in the moment. get down on their level and really engage with them. Watch for where the sun is coming and hitting your subject. Be mindful of your exposure cause it was so easy to get blow out spots on her forehead and nose. Don't over pose them as well. I just let her sit comfortably and start shooting.
