This large wetland meadow is less than a mile from my home and I pass it nearly every day. I've come to appreciate how the seasons change its appearance over the year. This image was taken during a typically rainy Seattle-area spring. The lighter-colored stalks are the remains of last season's shoulder-high marsh grass and the alders and cottonwoods are just starting to leaf out. I got this shot just in time as the rain started coming down in sheets afterward.
