Location
I went to the Eastbrookend country park in England not too far away from where I live. I love this beautiful place because it is a home to a huge variety of wildlife which is of course ideal for the type of photography I am most interested in.Time
I decided to go early in a morning after I checked the weather forecast. I wanted to use the lovely raising sun's light in my photos.Lighting
When I am photographing wildlife animals I like the natural light to be the main and the only source of light. Because of the time of day when I took this photo, the golden sunrays were hitting the subject from the side, emphasizing the colours of the bird.Equipment
I used my Canon 70D with the Tamron 150-600mm lens.Inspiration
Robin is one of my favorite birds and I saw this one sitting on a top of a small tree singing his morning song, lit up by the mornings sun and beautiful blue skies in the background. It was perfect moment and I am happy that I was able to capture it.Editing
I take raw photographs and then use Adobe Lightroom to catalog and edit them. Unfortunately, many times even with my 600mm lens I am not able to get as close to animals as I would like to. Because of this I do have to crop some of my images. When editing, I aim for natural look. So for this photo I used LR to crop, reduce noise and sharpen it a bit. I also raised the Vibrance and Saturation very slightly. As I said, I do want my photos and especially wildlife photos to look naturally. In my camera bag
I usually carry with me the Canon 70D, canon 50mm f1.8 prime lens, canon 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens and the Tamron 150-600mm telephoto lens.Feedback
Photographing animals in their natural environment requires a lot of time and patience. Going out in a morning or evening is the best in most cases, because the light at this time is great. Knowing the location and understanding particular animal's behaviour is huge advantage. That way it is possible to anticipate what the subject is going to do next and then wait for the right moment to capture it.
