Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken near a diner near my college. We were just roaming about, and the place just had that pull towards it.

Time

This is one of the first images I've taken with my SLR. It was dark, around 8.30. Had to squat down to get the perfect composition, but it just worked out amazingly. It was a great day, that day.

Lighting

There was a sense of tranquility present in the picture. I was just trying to portray that into the frame. The lamplight in the background wasn't bright enough, so I had to crank the ISO up a bit. Focusing on the little flower in the foreground, I was able to get what I pictured in my mind. Loneliness and Tranquility.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D5300 using the standard 18-55mm kit lens.

Inspiration

We were just walking past the lamp post when I saw a small group of these flowers growing in its vicinity. The scene felt very picturesque, and I felt compelled to make it a memory.

Editing

The picture had a lot of grain to it. So, I had to fiddle with the sharpness of the picture, and the luminance. Apart from that, there was nothing much to do.

In my camera bag

I'm still a beginner, so all I carry is my D5300 and its kit lens. Occasionally, I borrow a prime from my friends to get better shots.

Feedback

My only advice is that before taking any picture, first try to form a mental image of how you wish to take the shot before you. Everything depends on the composition.
