The White-crowned Sparrow is a songbird that only appears in upstate NY during spring migration. When we do see them they are often found on the ground or in bushes, commonly hanging out with White-throated Sparrows. I had tried back home to get decent photos of them but was never satisfied. So I was pretty excited when I was hiking in the Sonoran desert and this one jumped up on this bush and posed for me. October 2015.
