Location
The photo was taken at Penmon on the south east tip of Anglesey in Wales, UK. One of the most beautiful places I've been to in the country and the history of the place is amazing. The lighthouse dates back to 1838 and was used to guide sailors between Penmon and Puffin Island. It has been unmanned since 1922.Time
I took this photo just after the sun dipped below the horizon.Lighting
I wanted this image to look slightly creepy but also have a serene feel to it. I waited for it to get a bit darker and shot this on a 25 second exposure.Equipment
This was shot with a Fujifilm FinePix HS30 EXR, F/8.0, iso 100 at a focal length of 5.6. I also used a tripod.Inspiration
I hadn't really done a lot of long exposure photography before I took this and I was playing around with the camera to see what effects I could get with different exposures.Editing
I did a little in post-processing. I turned the clarity up slightly and brought down the exposure a bit to give it that dark and mysterious feel.In my camera bag
I travel quite light actually! My Canon 1100D is obviously the first thing I pack along with my 18-55mm and a 50mm prime lens. I carry my ND filter with me too and i can't forget my macro tubes!Feedback
Don't be scared to take your time or experiment with different settings or even different angles. I shot this from the ground after I noticed a few people shooting it at eye level. Just let your creativity flow and try new things!
