Location
This picture was taken in Transnistria, when I went photo hunting near a lake.Time
I had a desire to take photos of mosquitoes near the water, but I could not find a nice angle for these insects. When I once again hunted for a mosquito, on a nearby branch, landed this fly, its size was about 4mm. I managed to make a few shots and it flew away. It was in may 2013 at 5.36 PM.Lighting
Direct sunlight was not, because the shooting happened in the shade of a tree. But some elements of the background were highlighted filtering through the leaves rays.Equipment
At that time I was with Canon 60D and lens Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro IS USM. The camera was mounted flash with a homemade softbox aimed down at the subject. Without a tripod or monopod. Using the flash allowed to make acceptable camera settings: ISO 200, 1/200 sec, f/16.Inspiration
I always liked macro photography, even as a child I took photos with a film camera passerine feathers, small stones, placing before the lens of a magnifying glass. When my photography hobby became conscious, macro photography became one of the main places in my work.Editing
In this picture, I corrected the exposure, color balance, added sharpening, removed dust and did the cropping. In my camera bag
Usually such shooting with a standard set described above. For other cases, besides the above equipment, take the Canon Mark II, Canon lens EF 24-105mm f/4L USM, Canon lens EF 50 mm f/1.4 USM and EF-s 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM.Feedback
I realized that for a good macro picture you need a camera with a crop factor, good macro lens, patience, and desire the opportunity to be at the right time in the right place. And places to find objects to shoot - a lot.
