Location
This picture was taken at the Montseny natural park, which is about 1h 30min away from Barcelona by car, in Catalonia. It is a great place to walk in nature and enjoy the changing seasons. This tree is next to an artificial lake called "Pantà de Santa Fe"Time
This was taken on the 7th of november 2015 at 12:45 AM. The time of the day wasn't really appropiate but I took this picture during an outing with my hometown's school of nature for taking autumn pictures, so I didn't get to choose the time.Lighting
The light was really harsh but the contrast between the bright blue sky and the autumn colours and the earth caught my attention.Equipment
This was shot using a Canon 60D with an 11-16mm f/2.8 Tokina and a cheap tripod I had at the time.Inspiration
We were taking autumn pictures when I saw this tree right next to the lake. I immediately grabbed the camera and looked for the right angle to get the stones that lead to the tree and the branches leaving the picture from the top. I chose to shoot on portrait orientation to give more strength to the tree itself. It was one of those moments when you see something and you see the picture in your mind.Editing
I only did some minor editing using Lightroom to recover the colours and get a little bit more contrast. In my camera bag
The equipment in my bag depends on where I'm going. The only piece of gear that I almost always carry arround is the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. Then depending on the situation I carry the Canon eos 60D + 18-135mm or the Canon eos M2 + 18-55mm. If I can I carry a tripod, otherwise I carry a gorillapod.Feedback
Visiting places during the different seasons is a must. The landscape changes completely. Then you can enjoy the walk and when you see something you like, think about what it is that makes this appealing to you, and try to get the best composition so that what you like is the strong point in the image. It may sound cliché but, just enjoy taking pictures and learn from your mistakes. If you are not a professional the important part is that you like your pictures.
