Behind The Lens

Location

St. Pauls Bay, Malta

Time

In the evening

Lighting

I wanted the wave to look like it was about to swallow the sun, so I wanted it to look as dark as possible without losing it's details.

Equipment

Nikon D90 with a Tamron 18-270mm lens

Inspiration

After two months of beautiful but boring weather there was finally a big storm and the waves crashed into the pier. I wanted to catch the beauty and wildness of the storm on this usually so calm island.

Editing

I lightened up the foreground and went a bit hdr on it.

In my camera bag

Besides my old and trustworthy Nikon D90 I always carry a Tamron 18-270mm lens, a Tamron 60mm for macro shots, a polarizing and a grey filter, an extra battery and SD chip and some cleaning devices with me.

Feedback

Just go out on a stormy day and bring a camera with a fast shutter speed. Try to have something in the fore- or background which makes the whole scene even more dramatic, like people, the sun, a little boat...
