ja they are, but they pick up your fear.... i was taking photos of heyenas, and everytime i bent down, they came for me, so i stand up...they then backed of....it went on like that for 10mins or so, until i backed of....you need to read the situation, or the animals state of mind....if the tail flicks, stay away!

Too close for comfort on this one? Still a wild animal and always unpredictable.

You would have to grow up around these animals to know when and how to get close to them enough to get this kind of photo WOW!

I'm kind of laughing at some of these comments.. it's just a tiger. They don't attack unless provoked, otherwise they're really peaceful just like any other animal lol. Great shot by the way! Definitely beautiful.. ?

Location
This image was taken in South Africa, on a game farm....the tiger grew up there, so its semi friendly (never trust a dangerous animal!) I arived at the the lodge, Wildschutsberg in the eastern cape, and came to the tiger pen, as I stuck my hand thru, with the camera I had time for a quick burst of images, when he got closer I pulled back, I got shocked by the fence, my camera landed 3m in the pen, and myself 3m back, we recovered my gear!Time
It was about mid-morning, the light was behind me, so that helped!Lighting
I just wanted the subject to be taken with no dark areas, the morning light helped!Equipment
Shot on a Canon 7D mk1, with a 17-40mm f4 L series lens, as wide as possible, no flashInspiration
Just wanted to take an image that would wow the person who sees it! and get a very close image!Editing
mainly I shoot RAW, the settings are set up for the shot, so minimal editing needs to be done, I use LR for all my edits, and I try to keep it real as possibleIn my camera bag
Canon 7D, 2 x 430 ex flashes, a 24mm f2.8 fixed lens, a 50mm f1.8 fixed, the 17-40mm f4 Lens, 70-200mm f4 L lens, triggers, a remote, tripod...stacks of cf cards, for a wedding I have a Godox studio light with a battery pack....and some homemade poles to attach the flashes on. I have a Pelican case for the flash, a Lowepro 350 bag...Feedback
Be careful, cats, like the tiger, lion, the jaguar is dangerous, don't attempt to climb out of your car, unless you have a guide with you, focus on the animal's eyes, always! , keep your camera ready, anything can happen in a second!
