Behind The Lens

Location

I found an old railway while on holiday in natal, south Africa. I found it to be a beautiful setting as it crosses a bridge in the distance

Time

It was around 3pm when we where on our way back to camp from the beach

Lighting

I wanted it to be black and white but to be able to notice detail... I increasd contrast and lighting to give me the desired effect

Equipment

I captured this photo with a Panasonic limit bridge camera, no other equipment was used

Inspiration

I am a self taught photographer and take every opportunity I have to increase my knowledge of what makes a great photo even better, this photo taught me that angles are important and can make object seem more alive in a simple photo. I had a vision of the thousands of people that journeyed on these railways and aimed to show the path they took.

Editing

In the case of this image I didn't do another of post processing. I inhanced the contrast and brightened the image.

In my camera bag

I keep the basic equipment in my camera bag... I use Mt bridge camera all the time while on holiday, an external flash, polorisor lense and a soft cloth to clean my lenses if needs be.

Feedback

Don't be scared to position yourself on ways other people may be scared to do. The best images require you to leave your comfort zone and push ur boundaries. When u experiment with different angles you will be able to see how different angles inhance an object if different lighting. Make the ideas in your mind come to life by taking multiple test shots before the final shot to ensure perfection is reached
