This outer wall enclosed a number of basic prisoner barracks. The indentations on the left hand side of the image were where one side of the 13 steps up to the gallows platform, were supported. The platform and gallows have long since disappeared but the recesses in the wall serve as a reminder of the fate which awaited many of the prisoners
