Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Time

The photo was taken in the afternoon.

Lighting

The light was a bit harsh because it was just after midday, but it helped for a faster shutter speed.

Equipment

It was a handheld shot with a Canon powershot sx 240hs.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture the bird's behaviour in its natural environment.

Editing

Because the light was harsh I had to make the shadow on the buck's neck a bit lighter. There was also a part of another buck in the background which I had to take out.

In my camera bag

I have a Canon EOS 100d and a Sigma 150-600mm C lens. I also have a standard lens and a Canon 75-300mm lens.

Feedback

The key is just to try and practise and practise, to help you find a technique to be able to capture things quickly. If you are lucky you can capture the moment just at the right time!
