Amazing Capture!! :))

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on my once-in-a-lifetime trip to Ireland several years ago. The spirit and feeling of the place was overwhelming.

Time

Late afternoon, with weak sunlight filtering in.

Lighting

I just wanted to capture it - light is different in Ireland from where I live (Canada), and I was obsessed with it.

Equipment

No tripod or flash, just my Fujica STX-1N SLR, with the basic lens - 1:1.9 50 mm

Inspiration

I was in Ireland not just to experience it, but to track down ancestors, and the history and age of this building just seemed to be a perfect subject on that quest.

Editing

I did use a textured overlay to even out the colours and give it a more mysterious look.

In my camera bag

I use my Fujica (mentioned above), but these days I also use my iPhone a lot, because you can do incredible things with it. Macro lens are also a favourite.

Feedback

Let yourself just BE in the middle of such age and history and soak it all up before you try to capture it. If you're listening really hard, it will whisper something about itself to you.
