I think it was late afternoon on a cold rainy day.oLighting
Lighting was tough because of the rain and distance. You see, this was a “drive by shot”. I literally was in my car, shooting out the window from across the street in the pouring rain!Equipment
Canon 70D 100-400mm lens. No tripod, handheld. No flash.Inspiration
I was actually driving by a house where I had noticed their Holiday decorations-lifesized Nutcracker soldiers. I wanted to get some pics of the nutcrackers, which I did. Before I drove away, I saw the Gargoyles guarding the walkway. The expression on them looked so angry and the rain played right into it! That’s why I took the shot. I was so pleased with the result.Editing
I didn’t have to play with the image much. I just sharpened it a touch and added a bit of contrast to bring out the rain.In my camera bag
Everything! I always have my camera bag with me. Canon 70D, Canon T3i (my old camera) as a back up. 100-400mm, 55-250mm telephoto, 15-55mm kit lens, 28mm prime, extra batteries, etc.Feedback
Whatever your vision is, stay with it until you get your shot! Never leave until you are satisfied that you captured what you pictured in your head. Change direction, settings, just do something different. You will be better for it!
